Jonathan Tiersten was born and raised in Queens, New York on August 11, 1965 and then moved to Long Island to New Jersey and then back to New York City. When he was a teenager he wanted to get into the business of acting and signed up with an agent and got his first gig in a Pepsi TV commercial. At the age of 17 he tried out for and won a part in an upcoming independent horror film known as Sleepaway Camp (1983). He had many opportunities and near misses during and after the film. After the film he then enrolled in theatre acting school at New York University for 4 years where he earned a degree in theatre and was classmates with 'Adam Sandler' and Molly Shannon as at the time they, too, were struggling actors.

He went on to do more TV commercials and won a supporting role as Jason in a popular ABC after school special, known as _Seasonal Differences (1987) (TV)_ starring 'Megan Follows'. He had a part in a "CBS School break Special" as well as a stint on the daytime soap "Another World" (1964). He chose to leave acting and become a singer and guitarist, and then moved to Colorado in 1991 where for a few years he owned a bar and formed his own band, releasing a solo CD titled "Heaven".
