After a short career in the army as lieutenant, he started a new career as an actor. Studied in the school of performing arts in Oporto, created by the Italian film director Rino Lupo, and began performing in theatre and cinema. In the 20s he left Portugal and went to Brazil, then Mozambique, India and finally Macao where he was married and his daughter was born.
